July 9, 2011 dessert

For dessert....decided on vanilla ice cream with homemade chocolate syrup.  here is the recipe for the chocolate syrup

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Combine the water, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt together in a saucepan over low heat; whisk constantly until the mixture thickens and begins to simmer. Remove from heat and stir the vanilla into the sauce. Serve warm or cover and refrigerate until serving.       

And...when I went to add to my "honey butter" I discovered we are out of butter....so we had to get by with what we had!  So wasn't as sweet as we'd like, but we had "some" any way.
